5 Simple Things That Can Alert You When Your Hard Drive is About to Crash

1. Blue Screen of Death - Memory dump screen, usually its bound to some file system corruption or hard drive errors.

2. Slow Access of data - Opening of a regular file which would usually open fast enough is now taking a lot more time. Technically, most of the times its due to bad sectors.

3. Time to Boot Increases - System boots up really slow.

4. Drive making sound - When the drive is in use and if you hear any sound or intermittent clicking.

5. Hang - The system gets hanged / freezed quite often.

When you experience any of these make sure, you start taking a backup. And look fo a new drive to continue working.

Increasing storage --- Increase in Crashes

Most of us who are tech savvy need more storage space, for games, movies, music, pics, ebooks, work stuff etc..

Good news is that there are 500GB and 1TB drives are available. Some of these high end storages are usually external devices in a box, which consist of two 500GB drives to make it 1TerraB using RAID configuration.

Bad News, dont just rely on these..just because its raid, Raid devices can also fail. A friend who is a pro photograher in SFO lost some of his latest work, without any backup. Avoid disasters, keep backups. If things fail try Raid Recovery Professionals.
